What makes us search for relationships? What makes us relate to others? What part in us wants to be in a relationship? How is it that the fascination of the beginning often turns into irritation and estrangement - independently of the nature of the relationship – whether it’s a friendship, collegiality, neighborly or a love-relationship? Although we feel attracted and become close, the Other / the Foreign brings us to our edges, and challenges us to develop further.
From a process oriented perspective the development is happening at the edge between the known and unknown. Yet in the relationship-field this means tension, confusion, sometimes conflicts up to shared or individual transformation.
That’s why we enter relationships, that’s why we get challenged, in order to learn how to relate to the Other / the Strangeness in our ‘partners’ and in ourselves.
This is going to be the focus of our research in this workshop, where we will be using processoriented Inner Work, Relationship Work and exercises in small groups and share our experience with other courageous and shy strangers.

MD, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, supervisor, Diploma in Process-Oriented Psychology (Zurich, Switzerland)
Since her childhood when growing up in Germany after World War II, Marianne was interested in the question: What is left - who is the human being in his/her innermost being when all the familiar aspects of life fall apart? The search for a response made her study medicine and after longer stays abroad in Ecuador and the USA lead her to psychotherapy, the Buddhist practice of ZaZen and the shamanism. When she got in touch with Process Work developed by Arny and Amy Mindell, she found the tools that help to unfold the essence of what manifests in staggering and alienating- experiences and which creates meaning on personal and collective level when working with clients, couples and groups. She works in her private psychotherapeutic practice in Zurich since 1987 and Berlin since 1996 and offers seminars in different countries. She received her Diploma in Process-Oriented Psychology in Zurich in 1992. Marianne has co-founded the Institute of Processwork, POPI in Slovakia and is teaching and supervising there as well as at the Institute for Processwork, IPA in Zürich and is supervisor at the Hanuman-Institut in Berlin.
